"Celaena was the lost Queen of Terrasen. Chaol sank to his knees."
Summary: From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil. Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart. Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie... and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.
Thoughts: This book guys..... This book was probably one of the best books Iv'e ever read and that's not a exaggeration. I just loved the drama between the characters and the love triangle! kinda. I loved that even though there was a love triangle kinda it wasn't the main point in the story. Of course it played a role in the story line but it wasn't what the story was about. The author did a good job of making sure that the romance wasn't forced on us which most authors do and again like I said in my previous review she kept that balance of action and mystery and fantasy. It was perfect.
Now for the good stuff.... SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Okay lets start with the beginning of the book. I don't know how many of you ship Celaena and Chaol but let me just say I could not contain my happiness when they go together on Chaols birthday. I was just so happy that she picked him over Dorian becuase I honestly feel like they have more chemistry and their love or like is stronger than Dorian and Celaenas like. They were so cute! Always sneaking away to be together and spending all the time they can together. #GOALS
BUT THEN ARCHER HAD TO BE A LITTLE ASSHOLE AND KIDNAP CHAOL TO GET TO CELAENA!!! When Celaena found him chained up and started killing people I died because she would do anything for him. Until... Archer told her that Chaol knew about the threat on Nehemias life grrr. I felt so bad for Chaol... because at that moment you knew Celaena couldn't trust him anymore and it hurt. It hurt BAAAD. But what hurt worse was when Celaena ran back to the castle to find that her best friend had been murdered!!! Oh the agony!
It just seemed like Celaena jinxed herself when she thought about her happiness not lasting long and it didnt. She tried to kill Chaol and Dorian found out he had magic and Celaena almost died on many occasions and i'm just here like GIVE HER A DAMN BREAK!!! SHE DESERVES IT!
But then the most beautifully painful things happened. First... Celaena said she would always pick Chaol over Dorian and Second Chaol said he loved her!!! GAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! She didn't say it back which is okay but its just the fact that he told her and finally admitted it to himself and it was a perfectly sad ending because then she sailed off on a ship to Wendlyn.
BTW I know this isn't everything but I can't handle writing anymore too many feelings !!!!
