The Hunger Games Review
I just want to say before I start this that book Peeniss is way better than movie Peeniss. Thats it and also that ship name is hilarious! I don't think I will ever use that again though. I looked up different ones and I'll stick to Everlark. This is not spoiler free because I'm pretty sure everyone has read or at least seen The Hunger Games.
Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
Rating: 4/5
Synopsis: The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The 'tributes' are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory. When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
Quote: “I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun.”
My Thoughts: This book was better than I expected and I'm happy that I enjoyed it because I bought the trilogy and now I get to marathon it. Maybe. I'm glad I gave this another chance and didn't completely write it off because of the first time I tried to read it. I was so cute and thrilling and kind of intense at some parts.
Likes:
- Everlark.
- Peeta being so adorable and in love with Katniss destroyed me.
- Peeta's confession.
- Cato dying!
- Rue! She was awesome!
- The fact that I now understand some of the stuff Hunger Games fans talk about.
- Katniss being brave even after what she went through.
- I waited long enough to forget the movie before I read the book so everything was fresh to me.
- The fighting even though there wasn't much.
- The fact that I still feel like crying because Rue died.
- When Thresh let Katniss go as a thank you. (I had to look up his name because I forgot his name.)
- The fact that I imagined this when Katniss talked about President Snow looking at her!!! XD
Dislikes:
- Katniss.
- The fact that she doesn't admit to herself that she really likes Peeta even if she doesn't love him (which she totally does).
- Katniss bringing up Gale even though she friend zoned him in the beginning. Like why is he even on your mind when you're with Peeta you're not together!
- The way Foxface died. I didn't think she was that stupid like she survived until there were only 4 people and she dies from some berries?
- Rue dying! I didn't have an emotional connection with her in the movie so reading it made me so sad.
- This one is about the movie. I didn't ship Everlark in the movies because while watching it it was like why is this here but it makes much more sense in the book.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
