A Court of Thorns and Roses Review
Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Rating: 4/5
Quote: “I was as unburdened as a piece of dandelion fluff, and he was the wind that stirred me about the world.” Ugh such a good line:)
Synopsis: A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beastwith faerie lore. When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world. As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it... or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
My Thoughts: Sarah J. Maas is the queen of sexual frustration... she just destroyed me little by little every time any little thing happened between Tamlin and Feyre. This book also made me feel a little dirty like I was reading smut in the middle of a crowd.
Likes:
- So steamy!!!
- I loved Tamlin and Feyre together and I'm still waiting to get the Feylin scene I've been waiting for.
- Rhysand... Hes a total ass BUT!!! I kinda like him and apparently in ACOMAF im going to love him. We will see.
- I loved how Feyre didn't let her shortcomings hold her back because she is a bad B****.
- Lucien warming up to Feyre made me so happy and the way they helped each other out and looked after each other despite how he treated her in the beginning.
- Did I mention that it was so steamy?
- The main character wasn't a child (shes 19 years old). She didn't need anyone to take care of her she was the one taking care of people.
- Feyre never gave up even if it seemed that she wasn't going to win because she was a fighter.
- Tamlin brought out the best in Feyre and vice versa (kinda he was a butt hole at first)
- The world building and also the characters
- The allusion to Beauty and the Beast throughout the story. Except for the fact that Feyre can't read.
- I obviously hated the antagonist of the story Amarantha.
- The Autumn Court because Lucien's brothers were the worst people I've ever read about even though they don't really do anything to him.
- Rhysand.... I know I said I liked him but i also wanted to punch him in the face... Butthole...
- The way Feyre's family treated her even though she was the one that kept them alive.
- Her father. He doesn't deserve a daughter like Feyre he's so ungrateful.
- The Ending... It just wasn't enough for me to get excited about the next book even though I already bought it and am waiting for it to come to my doorstep.
- The struggle pronouncing names even though there was a pronunciation guide at the back of the book.
