Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: In the remote, eastern European town of Borslav there is St. Sebastian orphanage, a place where people discard theirunwanted children. For the American, Blaire Baker, it’s the perfect place to volunteer her services. Paired with a cheerful volunteer nurse, Blaire is enthusiastic about the possibilities, but is quickly discouraged when she encounters the nefarious nature of the staff and the deplorable conditions of the facility and the children. Upon arrival, one of the children informs Blaire, “There’s something in the basement.” It isn’t long before strange things begin happening, including Blaire’s flashbacks of the accident that killed her parents. The children soon suffer injuries that Blaire, first, fears may be the deeds of the callous workers but she soon thinks the abuse may originate from a source that is less than human, something unwanted. The unwanted is coming but in order for Blaire to fight it, she must dig into St. Sebastian and herself in search of truth. Blaire wants nothing more than to help the children, but when discovers the tragedy that happened in the basement and learns that the same evil forces are still at work, it will be Blaire who needs help…There’s something in the basement.

My Thoughts: The author sent me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Also she was super awesome and signed it for me so THANK YOU!!!! Now down to business... This book was so creepy and good but I couldn't read it at night XD. I didn't necessarily like any of the characters but the writing was so good I completely overlooked it.

Likes:
  • The story had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time as events unfolded throughout the story.
  • It was like watching a horror movie and I could picture everything.
  • The story reminded me of the movie The Possession which isn't really anything like to book but it just kept popping into my head as I read. I love that movie.
  • I could pronounce the names which I was so thankful for.
  • It was so creepy. I read it one night and I was a a little paranoid so I only read I during the day after that.
  • The kids. They were also really creepy even though the only bad one was ( not putting her name... hahaha read it.) I couldn't help but be suspicious of all the kids because I don't like kids they're scary.
  • This bullet point is a spoiler so don't read it if you're going to read the book!!!!  In the end all the adults die. So we know that at least they dont have to live the rest of their lives remembering the experience.
  • Paranormal Activity! and the Supernatural. If Sam and Dean were there none of the crazy stuff that happened would have happened. But I'm glad they weren't in there XD

  • Dislikes:

  • Travis not believing Blaire when she told him about the room.
  • Travis not backing Blaire up.
  • Travis.
  • Everyone being rude all the time.
