Glass Sword Review

Title: Glass Sword
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Rating: 4/5
Pages: 444
Synopsis: Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.
The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind. Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

My Thoughts: My only thoughts are that the characters kinda ruined this book for me. I'm not saying I didn't like it because I did... It's just as the book went on I started to dislike the "good guys" and started rooting for the "bad guys" AKA Maven. I really wish  he was in the book more because he was probably the most interesting character.
With the way the book started I expected this book to be all action but it really wasn't. Mare was being a whiny brat who was also really cocky. Like yeah we get it you're the lightning girl all powerful whatever you're a weapon blah blah blah, and yeah we get it you pity yourself too much and you feel under appreciated...SHUT.UP!
Oh and don't get me started on Cal and Kilorn! Kilorn was such a bad friend in this book! He was jealous and he stops talking to her all because she's always around Cal. Get over yourself buddy... you're the fish boy, the friend, she was never going to see you in any other way! And Cal!!!!!!! UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!He was such a moody baby!!!!! I get it bad things happened, you lost people but stop being such a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see why Mare never trusted him. He didn't know what he wanted... Hell he didn't even know who he wanted to be and when Mare came into the picture he was a frigging puppy watching and following her every move! I have never shipped Mare with Maven more and I honestly don't care if he's the bad guy he's so much better than Cal in like every single way that counts.
Let me just save this ranting time by just saying all of the characters were so annoying and I didn't like any of them (Except for Maven of course). It really got to the point where all the characters were embarrassingly predictable and cliche. Even more so in this book than the first. Also the story was also predictable. I mean I can't be the only one who saw that ending coming... I mean everything from the last couple chapters but not those little details that didn't really matter obviously...

Other than all that annoying stuff the book was decent. I liked it. I just read it to enjoy it and to catch up to the series. I am disappointed because a lot of people said this book was better than the first but that's alright. That's why I took off a star from my rating. All I want from the next book is more Maven and better characters.
