Wooh!!! Lets just get to it! This is in order. I honestly don't think I have to explain why these are my favorites. I have reviewed all of these and if you guys haven't read any of these ( most people probably
already have) read them.
Hi guys! I know a lot of people have already posted theirs but I wanted to wait until New Years Eve to post this. So here are my top 5 Disappointing books. Most of these books have ratings higher than a three so I obviously like them, they just didn't live up to the hype/ my expectations. These are in order from least, least favorite to most least favorite.
5.) Queen of Shadows: After Heir of Fire I expected much more from QoS. It dragged a little but I obviously still liked it. It just didn't live up the the feels I got with the first two books.
4.) Gemina: After reading this it made me like Illuminae even more. I liked it focusing on AIDEN and it going rouge and I didn't really find the characters in Gemina memorable.
3.) Heir of Fire: It was Heir of Fire where Manon was introduced I think and I hated her character. I hated that her point of view interrupted parts of the story. Basically I didn't like her and that made me like this book less than the others.
2.) Glass Sword: I felt that by the end of Red Queen there was so much that could have happened in the second book that didn't. I felt that we were just reading a book about people going on a road trip and when they got there nothing really happened one of them just got arrested.Like it was decent but it was pretty boring until the end which changed my mind about the rating I was going to give it.
1.) City of Bones: Oh my goodness this book was so disappointing! I have always heard mixed things about this book but I didn't think a book could be that boring. So much of nothing happened and I spent the entire time trying to figure out what makes people love it so much! I am going to read City of Ashes eventually but for now I need other books before I go back into that. Now I know to k=go into the next book with much lower expectations though.
Hello everyone its me! The girl that never posts!!! Television has taken over my life, I cant help it. After I finished watching Sherlock this month, I started watching Doctor Who and got back to watching Shameless. On the bright side after 80 years of not finding the motivation to read I have it... So that's a good thing. Anyway let me just get to this review
Title: An Ember in the Ashes Author: Sabaa Tahir Rating: 3.5/5 Synopsis: Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free. Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear. It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do. But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy. There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself. Quote: “I'd rather die than live with no mercy, no honor, no soul.” My Thoughts: I've been trying to finish this book for about a month and yesterday is when I got passed the first 100 pages. The thing is though, the first hundred pages aren't boring but my mind at the time was just like "Put it down and watch Doctor Who..." so I did. I kinda regret it... I wish I would have finished this sooner because its actually a pretty good book. Also the fact that I didn't really care for most of the characters didn't ruin the story for me. Usually if I hate the characters I'll stop reading the book... or sometimes finish it but I wont remember anything about the book except that the characters sucked which wasn't the case. There's still time for the characters to grow on me. One character stood out to me though... The Commandant. That woman is a straight savage and not in a nice way. She's cruel and mean and I think I like her ( I know shes a villain..). Other than that the story pulled me in from the beginning even though it didn't really get a huge reaction out of me like I expected, it didn't disappoint. I the world was built really well the maps were beautiful, action parts were pretty crazy especially more towards the end. Jeez! I have no idea why this is hard for me to type out! To put it simple I liked the book and I think that there is a lot more to one that could make me love it. By the way I've already started the second book... I'm going to take it slow though because I want to be able to keep reading and posting reviews... so I'll see you hopefully in the near future! Also let me just add this... I'm more active on Instagram and Tumblr so if you want to follow me please feel free to do so...
In my very (not) thorough review on the show Sherlock I said I needed someone to buddy read Gemina with me... Nevermind. I finished that book way too fast.
**** I was supposed to post this yesterday but I fell asleep!****
Title: Gemina (The Illuminae Files 2) Author(s): Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff Rating: 4.5/5 Quote:“And now, born from the ashes, she’s a warrior in bloodied black.” Synopsis: Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed. The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminaecontinues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault. Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion. When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands. But relax. They've totally got this. They hope. My Thoughts: Let me just start off by saying that ending made me so angry!! How are you going to end a book saying "You wanna know how it ends?" Well DUH that's the reason I'm reading the book isn't it? UGH!!! Anyway like the first book it was awesome I did like this one better though I guess because I wanted to see where Hanna and Nik's relationship would go. I was not disappointed. My only problem was that I didn't even think about re-reading Illuminae (Mainly because I'm scared to
re-read books) so I kinda forgot a lot that happened that was brought up in this story. What I'm not sure about is if this took place during or after the events that happened in Illuminae because even though they mentioned stuff that happened in Illuminae I felt like they were still in the same time period. Anyway!!!
Hanna... such a bad ass character!! I honestly love how she was so different from what people expected the Captain's daughter to be like and she stayed strong and calm when it seemed like the odds were stacked against her and Ella... man that girl is a fighter and she was so funny and incredibly smart for a fifteen year old. Hanna and her superhero fighting skills brought me life because I look reading about bad ass female characters.
Even though I finished reading the book yesterday I honestly don't really remember the book.So I'm going to stop. I've been watching Doctor Who and I'm almost done with the first season because I've been sacrificing sleep... I'm bad. Just read the book its really good and that's coming from a person who doesn't really like sci-fi. Links: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29236299-gemina
Okay so here are my favorite TV Villains. I have to say that LOVE every single one of them... I just can't help it! TV Villains are so different from book villains.
5.) Negan (The Walking Dead): He's my least favorite because he killed two of the best characters on the show but besides that Negan is funny as hell in his own way and that's what makes me like him so much even though I want to hate him.
4.) Crowley (Supernatural): He is my little evil demon cupcake!!!! What more do I have to say? He has style, he's sarcastic, he has an English accent... hes perfect!
3.) Captain Hook/ Killian Jones ( Once Upon a Time): Hes Captain Hook enough said!
2.) Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones): I take back what I said about loving all of them... I hate her so much. Shes an awful human being and I can't wait until Dany goes to Kingslanding to put her in her place. UGH!
1.) The love of my life. The best thing to grace the TV screens James Moriarty (Sherlock): From the moment he showed up on my screen I fell in love. He's obviously super cute but what got me was how sassy and careless he was... on top of that how crazy he was. The scene where he and Sherlock first met and Sherlock said something about people dying, Jim flipped a damn switch and it was pretty HOT... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 That's what people DO! He's my favorite villain EVER!
Okay so the people on this list are not people I like at all I hate most of them ... well maybe except one but the reason they are my favorites is because they did such a good job making me hate them so yeah! I will be posting both parts today one will be book villains and the other will be TV villains. Anyway enjoy!
5.) Neferet (HON): If you've read the House of Night Series I'm sure you knew from the beginning that there was always something fishy about her. From the moment she started killing people and doing awful things to the nerd herd I started to hate her. She was manipulative and cruel... she actually reminded me of the Other Mother from Coraline because she literally burst into a bunch of spiders. This picture is from one of the book covers but I can't remember which one.
4.) Amarantha (ACOTAR): She made me want to murder her!!! I hated her so much! It was just the way that she had everyone under her thumb that did it for me. She ruined everything!!!But on the bright side we got a mating bond out of it. 😉😉😉
3.)Mr. Harvey (The Lovely Bones): This guy was just a sick MF. The only reason he is on here is because there are people like him in the world and they are the scum of the earth. That character made me realize that horrible stuff like that happens and even though I hate the character so much he opened my eyes to people like that. This is the actor that played him in the movie.
2.) Maven Calore (Red Queen Series): You know what I just realized? His last name is Hot in Spanish 😂😂😂😂. Anyway he was such a good Villain. He was manipulative and cold. The only problem is I don't hate his character one bit. The first time he was introduced he was the shy quiet shadow of his brother. He was sweet so it stayed with me. But that boy is awful and if Red Queen was a TV show his character would be the BEST villain.
1,) Maeve (Throne of Glass Series): Honestly if you've read this series you should know why I hate her so much... She's a coward who waits until someone is put down to swoop in and take power. She feeds on the weakness of others and that's what ultimately makes her an amazing villain.
If you haven't watched Sherlock.. first of all... WATCH IT! Second it's just a contemporary version of The Sherlock Holmes Stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Basically if you have any idea of who Sherlock Holmes is that's this show. Also there will be some spoilers ill make sure to let you now when they are coming. Ill try not to spoil anything in the first season I guess.
***This isn't about Sherlock but I have been having so much trouble finishing books so I wanted to know If anyone was interested in buddy reading Gemina with me. Let me know!***
Let me just start off my saying that every season is 5 stars for me...
Okay so at first I was super thrown off by the fact that not only are there three episodes in a season, but they are also and hour and a half long. I was like "NOPE I'm not watching this!!! That's too much!" but don't listen to past me... It's worth your time 100%.
The first thing that got me hooked to the show besides the way it started ( it had me like wtf is going on what are these people doing?! It basically was setting up the case that introduced us to what Sherlock's mind can really do) was Martin Freeman 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. Ever since I watched the Hobbit I fell in love with him. If you don't know he plays John Watson the Military Doctor who suffered from PTSD. When he showed up on my television screen I was like crap I'm obsessed. And then... BENEDICT FRICKING CUMBERBATCH showing up with all his hair and smartness and a riding crop... DONE. Immediately I knew this show was going to be good. I mean they were both in the Hobbit that's all the evidence I needed.
I think it took me a day and a half to finish the first season even though the Episodes are pretty lengthy. It really had me hooked and I just wanted to watch them solve the most interesting cases and to learn the science of deduction because the way Sherlock just knows things by observing something or someone is amazing! The case in the first episode when Sherlock examined the crime scene and came up with a whole scenario while also being a sassy little cupcake was everything!! The only downside to the show I think is that some of the people speak really fast and its kinda hard to understand what they said because of the thick accents... you get used to it though. Or just re watch it....
ANYWAY!! I keep going off topic! The characters are really interesting in their own special way and I obviously liked them but when the main big bad was revealed... OH MY GOODDDNNNNEEEESSSS!!!! It was like love at first sight. James Moriarty was just everything I have ever wanted in a villain... He was smart and sarcastic and funny and cute but he was also dark, cold and crazy and just all around bad... he also had great style 😍😍😍😍. When he shows up he's joking and smiling while also being threatening and I just had this moment of almost awe because he was probably one of the best villains that I have ever watched on TV... Probably because he's a Psychopath.... but I mean most antagonists in shows (at least the ones I watch) end up having this side to them that's all soft and sweet but when I first saw Moriarty I didn't get that vibe you know. Like he's the Big Bad and he's going to stay that way. That's what really made the season for me... Sherlock chasing down a man who he only knew the name of and then finding out that person was right under his nose almost the whole time!!! I loved Moriarty the whole time I don't care if he is the bad guy...
One more thing... I hated Mycroft so much it wasn't even funny!!!! Mainly because he was annoying as hell.
Season 2 (Spoilers)
This is going to contain MAJOR SPOILERS!! I'm not holding back on this one....
FFFFF ugh! This season really punched me in the throat and ran away with my sanity...
So many things happened... so many tears were shed... and OH MY GOSH I HATED THIS SHOW AFTER THIS SEASON!
Not only did my favorite character shoot himself in the head but then... BUT THEN... freaking Sherlock and that call and the building... 😭😭😭😭
I honestly feel like that's the only thing I really remember from this season... and the fact that Moriarty is brilliant... who also looks really good in a crown... AMIRITE?????
But back to the important stuff... I feel like that moment when Jim told Sherlock to choose between himself and his loved ones he realized that he's not a heartless machine like people think him to be. That scene was one of those sitting on the edge of your seat moments so much was going on and there wasn't enough time to process anything. I know when Jim shot himself I laughed so hard I was like " Funny, okay now get up. I know you're not dead... stop faking... you're sleeping... WAKE UP!!!" AND THEN HE DIDN'T 😭😭😭!!! Then on top of that... Sherlock standing at the edge of that building watching as John got out of that cab. And then they were talking on the phone and John was desperately looking for his best friend! That whole phone call hurt... I'm going to insert a video even though if you're reading this you've probably already seen it. Okay I searched for like an hour and this Lego version is the only one that had the full scene and its actually pretty good... 😆😆
Anyway everything after the moment Sherlock jumped was so hard for me. John's reaction was the one that really did it for me though... because he didn't cry. It was more like a mixture of shock and horror because I'm sure john has seen so many of his friends die. What hurt the most is how bad he wanted to help Sherlock and then when he felt that Sherlock had no pulse he basically just gave up. I think the reason that messed me up was because in that moment I though of my best friend... That moment was just so real... maybe too real. It was beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
I don't want to talk about season 2 anymore its so sad... but I loved it and I hated it. I think it was the perfect way to show us how much the characters care for each other while destroying us.
Season 3 (Spoilers)
I obviously wasn't happy with the way season 2 ended and then they had to go and show John back with the therapist... *DEAD*
Now I don't remember if this is from season 2 or 3 but it was like the icing on top of a 💩 cake.
John was so heartbroken and I hated that he felt that way after all he went through. He lost the one person that saved him and now I'm crying. Oh gosh! Lets get away from the sadness and back to the happy times!!! When Anderson was making up these theories on how Sherlock survived the fall and I can't help it I'm going to put clips because they're pretty funny (not all of them just the ones I like). They aren't the full clips....
Anderson is an idiot....
When Sherlock came back... oh my goodness he was so extra and John's reaction was hilarious! That episode had me rolling because no matter what Sherlock said or did John was pissed and that wasn't going to change. In that time he met Mary. I didn't like her... I still don't... and I knew there was something wrong about her... What makes me more mad than anything is that John didn't read those files and leave her.
DID YOU MISS ME?
I want to talk about something else before I start talking about season 4...
I was almost sure from the beginning that Sherlock is gay... I mean come on just watch the show and you will see it but John I'm still confused about... Does anyone else thinks he's bi? I hope so... I need some Johnlock in my life (thanks to YouTube I now ship Johnlock). I watched a video about Sherlock being Gay but not once did they mention John so what do you guys think?
Let me start with this damn poster... John's HAIR! Ugh!! Anyway... I'm probably not the first person to notice but each poster it seems like John is turning away from Sherlock and in this one not only does it seem like he's trying to pretend Sherlock isn't there but they also aren't standing close like they do in the other posters. Does that mean something is going to happen to their relationship???? I hope not! Also I don't know if this is the official cover for season 4 but its also the darkest one... meaning??? Something terrible is going to happen??? Like a major character death?????? I need to know! I don't want anything bad to happen to my sweet children or their friendship!!!
Something happens to someone for Sherlock to make that face!! He was about to cry and the only people that pop into my mind are Mycroft, Ms. Hudson, or John. Despite the fact that Sherlock claims he doesn't care for his brother I think he does so much because that's his brother! Now Ms. Hudson we all know Sherlock loves to pieces I mean he threw a guy out of a window three times because the get hit her and John... that's his best friend... he literally killed for John... I don't know who it could be but based on the emotion I see on his face it has to be bad. Especially since we see what could be Moriarty... I think it is, look at the shape of his head. So much is going on too... It's clear Mary is working again so did something happen to the baby?? Where is it and why wasn't it anywhere in the promo? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ANSWERED! I don't want to rant just watch it if you haven't... All I know is that things are going to get bad and then worse and I'm not ready.
And then finally there is this... I saw it this morning in an article about some clues that are in it.
The only thing I noticed besides the obvious flooded apartment was the way John looks at Sherlock and Sherlock is looking down. In my head Sherlock did something that caused a lot of problems... John is obviously mad but maybe Sherlock is feeling guilty??? Maybe... I'm going to link the article below so you can see the clues I'm talking about... a third Holmes sibling... Moriarty... Tom Hiddleston... and other stuff.
Hi guys I'm so glad I can finally post something! My Mac decided to be a butt and not let me log in so I had to fix it and I DID so I can post. This obviously isn't a book that I was supposed to be reading but... its something!
I haven't been able to finish a book and it's killing me so I've resorted to watching many shows on Netflix and reading Fan-Fiction... I'm going to post a review for one of the shows I finished so look out for that! Anyway here's the review.
Title: Stranger Author: Victoria/ stxrmborn Rating: 4/5 Quote: "You suggested one-on-one combat, didn't you? I've reconsidered. I think that sounds like a wonderful idea" Synopsis: My description of the story wont do it any justice but it's about a girl named Maia Sanders. She's super normal almost boring... she's engaged to this guy Derek who is about as crazy as I am about Game of Thrones. They go to Washington for a vacation to celebrate their upcoming Wedding when Maia stumbles upon some tree with powers in it (according to the Plaque next to it). Lightning strikes she passes out and the next thing she knows she in Westeros. It's freezing (She's in the north in the middle of winter) and she has no idea where she is, she just wants to go back home to her perfect life. I don't know... It takes place from season 5-7 so its not completed just yet because season 7 hasn't been aired. The actual synopsis is in the story on the second page. My Thoughts: I obviously enjoyed it a lot! Especially the parts that took place in season 6 because that is my favorite season! I mean come on!!! Battle of the Bastards was one of the best episodes in the series! Also because Jon Snow is everything... not only is he super hot, he is also a bad ass swordsman and he's been through way too much. Anyway!!! I liked it a lot, probably more than I should have??? I don't know but guys read it!!! It's so good!!! Links: https://www.wattpad.com/story/72255442-stranger-jon-snow
I know i was supposed to post this last week but lack of sleep finally caught up with my and I was too tired to do anything.
Title: Miles Behind Us Author: Robert Kirkman Illustrator(s): Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn Rating: 3.5/5 Quote: “But honestly... I just don't know what anyone's thinking. To me, that's scarier than any half-rotten ghoul trying to eat my flesh.” Synopsis: An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. This volume follows our band of survivors on their tragic journey in search of shelter. My Thoughts: Honestly this one was obviously better than the first. We met new characters (The Greene's and the others that stayed with them). We met Tyreese and his family. We also got more deaths which is good because now the story is starting to pick up and the characters are realizing that they don't know who to trust because anyone can just flip a switch. With that we got new "lovers" I guess. Maggie and Glenn of course!!! 😭😭😭😭 I just like that the story is moving the way it is. Even though I kinda know what's going to happen, it doesn't happen when I expect it to so that's good. The Atlanta group just made it to the prison after Hershel lost his son and some others and completely lost his crap. When that happened I was like woah! What happened to the sweet Veterinarian we all know and love. I didn't expect there to be that much swearing in there and that's probably because they don't swear much on TV. I kinda like it but sometimes it's just too much.
Yeah that's it! I am going to take a break on this because I'm reading too many books at once and I want to finish them first. I'm reading The Diabolic, Vampire Academy, Gemina, I have to find The Star Touched Queen because I won an ARC of the second book on Goodreads and a Jon Snow fan fiction 😳😳😳😳. Too much at once
So theres this website called Turowhere you can basically rentalmost any car you want and take off on a road trip (It's a car sharing company). I was looking through the website and they have some pretty badass cars on there like luxury cars... Porsche's, Mercedes, Lexus', I saw a Maserati cars like that and they have regular cars like a Ford Focus and Chevy Impala they also have pretty fun cars like the Ford Escape Aviatowhich was in HBO's Silicon Valley. It's a cool website. If only I had money... or a license... ANYWAY!!! The point of this post was to tell you guys about some cars I would love to be able to drive. If I could rent these I totally would.
Some of these might be a little weird but thats okay because this is just a fun thing to do. Also they aren't in any order because I love all of these cars.
5.) So this first one might not really be a surprise but... a 1967 Chevy Impala (Supernatural)
From the moment that car showed up on my screen I was in LOVE!! I mean that car is beautiful!!! I can't even deal! Why aren't cars today like that???
4. ) Next is a Chevy Camero (Bumblebee, Transformers)
That time when Megan Fox called Bumblebee a piece of crap and then he completely changed his appearance this happened 😻😻😻. It was just so nice and yellow (I don't like yellow but it was nice!). Look at it!
3.) Stiles' Jeep (Teen Wolf). I have always like these kinds of jeeps. My dad and my Uncle had one and I've always wanted one... I don't really know why. I really like the color of it too.
2.) Natasha's Corvette (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) When Natasha rolled up to Steve and Sam I was dead because not only is Natasha badass... Obviously! But her car was too and I want to be in it!!!!
1.) Is another one from Captain America but its not exactly a car... It's Steve's Motorcycle! Look how beautiful he is on that beautiful bike I just 😫
I'm going to add a bonus one just because I want to and that will technically make this top 6 but that's okay. I want to.
Honestly any Motorcycle from Sons of Anarchy... That show is the reason I love motorcycles and hope to one day own one.
Yeah! So that's it!! If you're planning a road trip and looking for a car to rent check out Turo and leave town in style!!! 😎
Hi guys! After like 300 years of being inactive I'm back. Ive just been in this weird mood... Like I want to read but I don't have the motivation to do it, so I end up being watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The Vampire Diaries. Ugh anyway! On Sunday I went to Half Price Books because they had a little sale (literally every one was there and I got lucky!!!). I have been really wanting to read the Walking Dead Comics since I started the show 3 years ago and I finally found it for a price that wasn't 60 dollars. It was 30 dollars but the sale was 50% off the highest priced item SO I GOT IT FOR 15 DOLLARS!!!! 😩😃😎
My mom was buying me books on Sunday so like an 18 year old child I ran to her and begged her for it. Anyway back to the reason were here! For the review... I didn't finish the whole thing because there are like 48 chapters (The comic itself is a chapter). I wanted to do a review on each one I read so I don't forget about anything so here we GOOOO.... 🐦 (yes I just found out blogger now lets me use emojis).
Author: Robert Kirkman
Illustrator: Tony Moore
Quote: “In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living.”
Synopsis: How many hours are in a day when you don't spend half of them watching television? When is the last time any of us REALLY worked to get something we wanted? How long has it been since any of us really NEEDED something that we WANTED? The world we knew is gone. The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months society has crumbled no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living.
My Thoughts: I like this. It was way different from the show which I'm grateful for but I'm a little confused with the series of events. I mean stuff was happening in a weird order (Probably because I watched the show first) and a character died early on... I though they were going to have more of a story line but it was actually really short. I still hate Lori.
This volume did remind me of the first season or the first episode ( I don't remember), it was pretty slow getting things going but it was still filled with enough action to keep it interesting. Considering this is the first comic book I've read I have to say it was pretty cool. The art in it is awesome I just wish they can release a colored version because I would really like to see that. Another thing is I have to get used to reading differently because sometimes the speech bubble is in a weird spot and I end up skipping over it and getting confused. Other than that this was cool and I already started the second volume Miles Behind Us. So yeah I'm pretty sure Ill probably finish that either tonight or sometime this week so look out for another review.
Oh also if you're looking to read these ( If you haven't already like me) you should get the Compendium its way cheaper than buying them all separately. The comics are like 10 dollars each so.... yeah. Until next time!!!!
Synopsis: Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.
The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind. Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.
My Thoughts: My only thoughts are that the characters kinda ruined this book for me. I'm not saying I didn't like it because I did... It's just as the book went on I started to dislike the "good guys" and started rooting for the "bad guys" AKA Maven. I really wish he was in the book more because he was probably the most interesting character.
With the way the book started I expected this book to be all action but it really wasn't. Mare was being a whiny brat who was also really cocky. Like yeah we get it you're the lightning girl all powerful whatever you're a weapon blah blah blah, and yeah we get it you pity yourself too much and you feel under appreciated...SHUT.UP!
Oh and don't get me started on Cal and Kilorn! Kilorn was such a bad friend in this book! He was jealous and he stops talking to her all because she's always around Cal. Get over yourself buddy... you're the fish boy, the friend, she was never going to see you in any other way! And Cal!!!!!!! UUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!He was such a moody baby!!!!! I get it bad things happened, you lost people but stop being such a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see why Mare never trusted him. He didn't know what he wanted... Hell he didn't even know who he wanted to be and when Mare came into the picture he was a frigging puppy watching and following her every move! I have never shipped Mare with Maven more and I honestly don't care if he's the bad guy he's so much better than Cal in like every single way that counts.
Let me just save this ranting time by just saying all of the characters were so annoying and I didn't like any of them (Except for Maven of course). It really got to the point where all the characters were embarrassingly predictable and cliche. Even more so in this book than the first. Also the story was also predictable. I mean I can't be the only one who saw that ending coming... I mean everything from the last couple chapters but not those little details that didn't really matter obviously...
Other than all that annoying stuff the book was decent. I liked it. I just read it to enjoy it and to catch up to the series. I am disappointed because a lot of people said this book was better than the first but that's alright. That's why I took off a star from my rating. All I want from the next book is more Maven and better characters.
The tag I'm doing today is the Mean Girls Book Tag by thebooklifenetwork. I wasn't tagged or anything but I wanted to do it so here we go.
1. "It’s pronounced like Cady” - Which fictional character’s names did you get completely wrong?
Almost every character in SJM's books! Honestly her character names are ridiculous. Also some of the characters in the Percy Jackson books (The Gods). 2. “She doesn’t even go here!” - Which character would you like to place in a fictional world from another book or series?
Like a lot of other people I want to see Aelin or Feyre in each other's worlds because they would be the best of friends.
3. “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” - Repetition. Repetition. Which book gave you dejavu of another book whilst reading it?
Red Queen for sure but I still liked the book. It was like reading every other YA Fantasy book in one book.
4. "You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores." - Which book gave you the complete opposite of girl power feels? I don't have an answer for that... I honestly don't know!
5. “You go Glen Coco!” - Name a character you felt like you wanted to cheer on whilst reading.
Feyre!! She is such a badass and I did cheer for her! Its just like how can you not??? She played everyone and she won!
6. "Get in loser, we’re going shopping!” - How long do you typically spend at a book shop?
Too long. I could go into a bookstore for one book and still come out an hour later.
7. “It’s not my fault you’re like in love with me or something!” - Which character would have to get out a restraining order on you, if they were real?
Hmmm... I don't think I would stalk any characters but if I met them I probably would creep them out with y feels. Plus staking seems like a lot of work.
8. “I can’t help it that I’m popular.” - Which over hyped book were you cautious about reading?
The Mortal Instruments Series. I've only read City of Bones and I'm putting off City of Ashes until I finish the 3 I just got.
9. “She’s a life ruiner. She ruins people's lives.” - We all love Regina George. Name a villain you couldn’t help but love.Every Villain in Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Gotham, and also Draco Malfoy!
10. “I’m not like a regular Mom, I’m a cool Mom.” - Your favorite fictional parents. I don't think any of the books I've read has parents... WAIT... Mare Barrows Parents are okay, I like her Dad. (Hopefully that doesn't change by the time I finish the book).
11. “That is so Fetch!” - Which book or series would you love to catch on?An Ember in the Ashes Series. Is it a series??? I don't know but I have the two books that are out and I can't wait to read them.
12. “How do I even begin to explain Regina George?” - Describe your ideal character to read about.I don't know... Maybe a super confident, mentally strong, and independent female character or a male character who is in touch with his feelings and not crazy possessive over his S/O.
13. “I just have a lot of feelings.” - What do you do when a book gives you a bad case of ‘the feels'?I sit in the dark and think about life before I read that book. Then I watch TV for a couple of days straight before I start reading again.
14. “Nice wig Janice, what’s it made of?” "Your Mom’s chest hair!” - Which characters one liners would you love to claim for your own? Spoiler!!!
This isn't a book character... well maybe... He's in comic books... anyway... Abraham Ford from The Walking Dead.... Ugh... He had the best one liners until the very end. *Cries* 15. “Boo, you whore.” - Name a time a characters decision has made you roll your eyes?
This is another one from The Walking Dead. Daryl isn't a character in the comics so this is a spoiler from the show... Daryl's desicion to punch Negan in the face... I rolled my eyes so hard I saw my thoughts. On top of that I cried because that punch lead to one of my children (Glenn) dying and Daryl getting kidnapped... *Starts crying for the 10000000th time in the last 3 days*
This tag is pretty old so If you haven't done it and you want to feel free to do it.
Halloween is right around the corner and I'm finally feeling the Halloween spirit! (lol late). This list will be of 11 of my favorite creepy or paranormal TV shows (does that fall in the same category?? are vampires considered creepy? Idk). They are in no particular order because I love them all so... here we gooo!
American Horror Story:
If you haven't heard of AHS yet where have you been? American Horror Story doesn't really have one specific story line because every season is different. Different story, different places, and different characters. The only thing that's really constant about the show is the cast. There are theories that the show is connected by Dante's Inferno and the 9 circles of hell is like the theme of each season or something... All I know is that if you pay enough attention to each season you will see connections... yeah every season is connected. It's really good and super creepy! Especially season 6 I love it!
The Walking Dead:
I'm pretty sure everyone has at least heard of TWD! I mean its a pretty popular TV Series jam packed with action and Walkers. Honestly before this show I hated anything that had to do with Zombies but when I finally started watching it obviously I realized it was more than that. This show isn't just about zombies but also loyalty, family, trust, and survival. It's a really good show that knows how to make me incredibly nervous... You see the picture... That's for the new season and it starts tomorrow. I'm so scared to know what happens because some crazy stuff is going to go down!
Bates Motel is a prequel series to the movie Psycho. If you have been following anything I post for a while you would know that I used to talk about this show a lot! I think what makes this show creepy is the fact that you get to see Norman Bates mentally unravel as you go and it kinda feels like you are too. I remember when I first started this show season 3 has just come out on Netflix and I think I finished it all in like 2-3 days! I was hooked. It's a really intriguing show and all of the characters are awesome!
THIS SHOW!!! If you were on the vampire bandwagon after everything Twilight, and you were old enough to watch this you probably know what this is! True Blood is an HBO show so I'm sure everyone knows what that means... But this show is about Sookie Stackhouse and a crap load of
supernatural creatures. I don't even know how to explain this show all I can say is Obsessed!! I think the series finished in 2014 I don't remember! It feels like I was watching it yesterday!
This is a Netflix show that I really like! It's actually pretty weird at first. There's a werewolf named Peter and an Upir (Vampire) named Roman (He doesn't know he's an Upir). It's basically about them trying to find out secrets about Romans Family's Company and trust me there are a lot. The shows last season is season 3 I think. I still haven't caught up and I'm ashamed because I spent a lot of time watching the first 2 seasons.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
BUFFY!!! I feel like no matter how old you are you have probably watched at least an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! My mother was obsessed with that show and now I am too. BTVS Is about a girl named Buffy Summers who is a vampire slayer, her town is literally on top of a hell mouth so the supernatural activity there is high, she's constantly trying to balance being a slayer and being the normal girl she wants to be. It's such a great show and it's super 90's so if thats your thing definitely watch it.
Supernatural is my life!!!!! Oh my goodness I love this show! I was literally hooked from the first 5 minutes! It starts in Lawrence, Kansas the family is at home. Dean is 4 and Sam was like 6 months old and they're getting tucked into bed by their parents. Something insane happens then boom! SUPERNATURAL. This is another show that I think is pretty popular especially on Tumblr. So yeah just watch it... it's not only about saving people and hunting things it's way more than that!
Scream the TV Series:
If you've seen any of the Scream movies thats basically what this is. I haven't caught up on season 2. I'm just lazy!
The Vampire Diaries
Another show you probably watched Post-Twlight. Am I the only one who misses vampire novels? I don't know there is just something about them. Technically The Vampire Diaries Novels came out before Twilight but those books weren't good. Its about Elena a human who falls in love with Stefan a Vampire and yeah bad stuff werewolves The Original Vampires Dopplegangers and all that beautiful stuff!
I'm so glad this show was made. Its bout everyones favorite Original Vampires thats all I can really say. I think I'm still on season 2 mainly because I'm trying to catch up on everything!
Oh my goodness I started this show yesterday and it is so scary! I mean obviously its the Exorcist!
I know this is super late!!! I totally forgot to post my TBR but its better late than never! I want to keep it short because lately I haven't been reading much no matter how hard I try and also its almost the end of the month.
If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever... YES I FINALLY BOUGHT THE BOOK AND IT SHOULD BE HERE TOMORROW!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT TO READ IT!!!

I see this book all over Instagram and BookTube and I was curious to see whats so good about it so I bought it. This too should be here tomorrow.
This is the sequel to An Ember in the Ashes so I didn't want to look up the synopsis.
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go—especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil—and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings—and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?
I really hope this one will be better than the first the ratings on Goodreads is slightly better so I have hope.
