Synopsis: Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way. But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to. But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before. He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper. Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her? Unless…could this be love?
Thoughts: I read this book both as a Wattpad fanfiction and as a book. I obviously loved both of them because they were really good. I just had some problems with it… Harry or Hardin as hes called in the book. He was so manipulative and rude and I hated him as a character. And his friends were even worse. That totally threw me off while reading this. Now I know Harry/Hardin was supposed to be the “bad boy” but come on! He takes advantage of people he sleeps with everything that walks and anytime he and Tessa would get into an argument he would find a way to show her if she left him he would just move on to the next girl. Like that’s just an asshole! And Tessa… she was probably the weakest female character ive ever read about. She was dealing with her control freak mother, her goody too shoes boyfriend, Hardin and his friends and it was like she could never stand up for herself in my opinion. She gave into peer pressure a couple times and she was like so oblivious to the real world. Considering she never left her home state I understand she wouldn’t know too much about the outside world but COME ON! Youre in college you should know way more. I just couldn’t stand her as a character and made me emberassed to be of the same gender. On a nicer note. The book was pretty good the plot twist at the end had me In a ball crying my eyes out. Although I don’t exactly like Hardin and Tessa together, they need each other to not be idiots. And I could not deal with the feelings. And with the way this book transitioned from a One Direction fanfiction to a book was pretty great. I have to gibe Anna Todd credit for that
